It took a long time to find a tartan that I was happy with and in the end I used a Scottish wool rug as well as a metre of melton cloth.
The pattern is the most modern I have used for several years and was very easy. It has a slightly flared skirt with a box pleat at the back and a fitted bodice with darts at the front and princess seams at the back. I made two changes, the first was to add a fourth button, the pattern suggested hidden press studs below the waistline but I wasn't keen on the idea. The second to make a stand up collar again very easy by simply measuring the length of the neckline and cutting out a straight piece 1.5 inches deep.
Now all I need is cold weather.

Busby Berkeley's swansong and what a way to go! A feast on the eye from beginning to end with little in the way of plot
(a good thing). Alice Faye, Carmen Miranda, Benny Goodman, a hundred chorus girls doing interesting things with bananas
and all in stunning technicolor. Classic Berkeley routines, real dancing, fabulous songs, stunning gowns, amazing fantasy sets,
jive, Benny Goodman and his orchestra, neon polka dots. FRUIT.
This is a musical film as it should be, 90% of it production numbers, a litttle romance, a little sentiment and a little comedy.
